Some bloggers are
Blogging has become a rage these days. More and more people are getting attracted towards this medium of self-expression. There are two major reasons behind the increasing popularity of blogging:
1) The first and the most important reason is that there are free platform available for the blogging like Blogger.com and WordPress, which allows people to blog without any extra investment
2) Secondly, one can earn huge amount of money from blogging while working at home.
The earning potential of blogging is one big question in minds of the people. Although there are many articles, tips, and techniques available on the internet on how to earn money by blogging, many people still are not aware about the right methods to earn from the blog. And even if they are aware about the potential of blogging, they still are not able to earn sufficient money through the blogs. The dream of earning through the blog remains that only… a dream.
But before earning anything from the blog, one needs to be successful as a blogger. So what does one need to do to become a successful blogger?
SELECT A THEME WHICH INTERESTS YOU
First thing to attain success in any field, including blogging, is one’s interest. If your passion lies in the field, you will be able to devote time to that without feeling burdened by the necessity of the job. As they say, hard work and time always pays off, and so is the case with the blogging.
Thus the first step to become a successful blogger is to select an area which you are passionate about. Since blogging involves regular writing of the articles, if the blog is related to one’s field of interest, one will be able to do better justice to it. The subject of the blog should be such that one has the passion for that topic. One should be ready to sacrifice one’s time and even the sleeping time if needed for the blog.
For example if a person is a big fan of Facebook and enjoys sharing the videos/viral posts etc, then the best topic for the blog will be “How to use Facebook Effectively.” One can research and learn the various aspects of the Facebook like the software it uses, shortcuts associated with it, or how one can use Facebook for brand imaging. Or the blog can be based on the articles on how to Facebook can help the upcoming businesses and NGOs.
Let us take an example of an offline interest. Suppose you are a driver in a local driver network, then you can write about driving tips, on how the driving conditions are deteriorating or what kind of mistakes many people usually do knowingly or unknowingly.
It is better not to write a blog just to follow a trend but truly be involved in what you are writing. Readers are available for almost every topic under the sky, and most of the time, the depth of the articles can communicated the love of the blogger towards the subject.
WRITE THE RIGHT THING
Quality of the blog is the next thing which adds on to the success of the blogger. Giving wrong or half-baked information will neither help the blogger, nor the readers. Instead wrong information can notorize the blog and the writer and make people wary about following the future posts. The blogger should study and research on the topics and present the right facts through the blog.
Plagiarism is an absolute No-no. Many people pick up the information from different sources like blogs, newspapers, videos etc. and then write the same in the blog. This can also hurt the brand of the blog because this will mean that there is nothing new in the blog to interest the readers. It is important to add the personal viewpoint to the topic which resonates with the people. This will ensure that the taste and the touch of the blog stand out.
QUALITY OF WRITING
Next thing which matters is the quality of the articles. The articles should be informative as well as interesting. In order to attain this, it is important that the blogger keeps abreast with the new happenings and events in the field as this will help in spicing up the blog. Language of the article should be simple to ensure that readers can easily understand the articles. The attention span of the public is not that long these days. Readers are more interested in succinct content which does not take much of their time, but yet is able to provide the requisite information. In order to maintain the interest, it is important not to beat around the bush. Another thing which helps in maintaining the interest of the readers is the short paragraphs. In case the articles get too long, they should be further divided into parts.
Regular updating of the blog is important for the success of the blog. The readers do not like the blog which is not updated regularly. Moreover, if the gap between the posts is too long, the chances are that the reader will end up forgetting about the blog.
At least one article a week is very necessary to keep the readers faithful to the blog. This is an indicator of how serious you are towards the blogging.
SEO or search engine optimization ensures that the blog is reachable to the masses. Without SEO the readership of the blog is limited. Thus along with the knowledge of the blog, it is important to be aware about SEO and latest updates on SEO.
There are some topics which are preferred by the users— some questions and queries people always want to read about. Awareness of such topics can boost the SEO of the blog. Once the blogger knows about these topics, these should be grouped according the search keywords. The keywords should appear in the navigation menu of the blog so that the readers can directly reach the article without any fuss.
ENGAGE WITH YOUR READERS
Another factor which helps in building the blog is the communication with the readers. It is important to reply to comments and maintain a relation with the readers. Sometimes, readers have questions and clarification that they are looking for, or sometimes, these comments are just the feedbacks. These comments help us in further growth of the blog. One can also create a Facebook page in order to engage with the readers.
READABILITY OF THE BLOG
Last but not the least, readers will not flock to a blog if the content is buried under the rubble of advertisements or sidebars. Thus the theme of the blog should be kept simple and clean. There should not be too much clutter around the content like buttons, ads, navigation menu, sidebars etc. Font should not be too small, themes should be soft colored, and paragraph spacing should be such that there is enough space between two lines. A blog which is pleasing to eye is more likely to get the readers.
Like everything else, experience also counts in the success of the blog. One learns about the different topics which entice the readers and different ways to make the articles interesting. Like old wine, as the blog grows old, it improves with time.
